Mitchell’s practice focuses on appellate litigation at the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals. His expertise spans a wide variety of areas, including constitutional law, administrative law, antitrust, environmental law, veterans’ benefits, Social Security, national security, property law, and cybersecurity issues. He has also published essays on constitutional law in the Federalist Society Blog and has co-authored a piece on federal jurisdiction over suits involving treaties for the upcoming Third Edition of The Heritage Guide to the Constitution, in addition to works published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and The Ohio Journal of Science.
Mitchell earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the New York University School of Law, from which he graduated Order of the Coif. While at NYU, he was a Florence Allen Scholar, Managing Editor of Development for the New York University Journal of Law & Liberty, semifinalist in the Marden Moot Court Competition, and research assistant to Professors Richard A. Epstein, Mark Geistfeld, and Samuel Issacharoff. Prior to joining Clement & Murphy, he clerked for Judge Carlos T. Bea on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Judge Douglas R. Cole on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
